Last May I had a huge cake smash sale in honor of my son’s first birthday. Twins stopped by at my studio for their sweet “one” year cake smash photo session with a boho and honey theme. Double the trouble or double the fun?

There are so many themes to choose from when you are planning your cake smash. Simple? Elegant? Fun? Bright? Bold? Seriously, the limits are endless. Luckily, these twins’ mom knew exactly what she wanted. Sometimes that is a perk of the world wide web at our finger tips. It is so easy to find inspiration online for a theme that you want at your session.

Mom requested a boho theme but incorporating “SWEET ONE.” Immediately, you may think of donuts, candy, cakes, etc. when you think of sweet. Taking a little twist on sweet, we focused on the subtleness of honey in the backdrop when we planned out the shoot. I think it was a beautiful, sweet, success.

The twins most enjoyed eating the little cupcakes that mom and dad packed. After we tried a few photos together, they were changed into a second outfit and “posed” for their own mini session. We really got the smiles going after that, and the cake smash was much more successful. Just look at the mess they made!
