In the last few years, the demand for birth story photographers has slowly increased.
Your immediate thought may be, “Ew, why would anyone want that captured?” Trust me, I get it. I had a photographer at my birth, and I will again for my future kids too. While not all of the photos are appropriate for the public, I think they are beautiful and I love looking back through them. Read my birth story.
Like every other session you hire a photographer for, birth photography is about telling the story:
The anticipation.
The pain.
The calm.
The support.
The love.
However, hiring a birth photographer is also very different than a photographer for every other family session or event. You can’t plan a specific date or time, even location can be in question at times.
Every parent puts together a birth plan, but it doesn’t always go accordingly.
As a birth story photographer, there’s a long term, “on call” commitment to clients. You always hear parents say, “You forget about the pain and experience. It goes by in a flash.” With a birth photographer, you never forget the amazing miracle. Each image brings a tear to your eye and emotion to the front of the mind. You relive the moment you welcomed your baby for the first time.
“Whenever and however you intend to give birth, your experience will impact your emotions, your mind, your body, and your spirit for the rest of your life.”

Three Reasons to Hire a Birth Story Photographer
- All of your loved ones can be 100 percent present in the moment. You and your significant other and family/friends in attendance don’t have to worry about taking photos. They can be there and support you while the professional is at work.
- We are not just a photographer. We can be a part of the support team, too! Let us help send texts, get water for you, or anything you need!
- Birth deserves to be celebrated. You wait nine months (give or take!), so just like every other milestone, birth story photographers capture the celebration and memories.
