It feels like just yesterday James was too small to hold a bat, and now here we are, wrapping up his first season of teeball. I’m bursting with pride as I look back on all the moments — the struggles, the dirt, and the joy — that made this season one to remember.

The schedule was tough, and there were definitely times when James wasn’t too thrilled about going to games. He’d much rather play with rocks, kick up dirt, or collect fallen leaves (which, let’s be honest, he spent more time doing than anything else). But despite his hesitations, we stuck with it. And every single minute was worth it.
Seeing James in a social setting like that, surrounded by teammates, really brought a new side of him to light. There’s something so heartwarming about watching your child get lost in the game, forgetting about the world around him and just being fully present in the moment. He may have spent more time digging in the dirt than running the bases, but seeing him happy, relaxed, and just being a kid was pure magic.

A few of my favorite moments didn’t even happen on the field. Isaac, being the supportive husband and father, helped coach him at home plate, showing him the ropes, offering encouragement. And there were definitely a few moments in the dugout when we had to wrangle siblings back into the family section after trying to join the game (talking about you Thomas!). But those moments — the ones that didn’t go according to plan — are the ones I’ll cherish the most.

As I look through the photos I took, I can’t help but smile. They’re not just pictures; they’re memories of his first steps into something new. A first sport, a first team experience, and first-time lessons that will last a lifetime. I’m so proud of him for sticking it out, even when it got tough. This first teeball season is one for the books…
The best part? He had fun. James learned, grew, and he made core memories. So did we. I can’t wait for the next season, the next chapter of this adventure. But for now, I’ll cherish these photos and all the memories they hold.
