Incorporating a dedication to Mary during your Catholic wedding Mass can add a deeply spiritual element to your ceremony. Mary, as the patroness of all marriages, is a powerful intercessor who exemplifies purity, love, and devotion. Whether you choose to say a special prayer to her, crown her image, or dedicate your vows in her name, this gesture allows couples to invite her protection and blessings on their marriage.
There’s something uniquely beautiful about a Catholic wedding. The sacredness and grace that fills the air, and the deep connection between the couple and their faith. Recently, I had the honor of filming a stunning wedding at St. Martin’s Chapel. The couple then shared a lively reception at The Barn at Aspen Acres. From the moment the couple exchanged their vows, the day was filled with intentional moments and their devotion to God.
The day began in my favorite Black Hills Catholic venue in Sturgis, St. Martin’s Chapel. The couple celebrated their marriage surrounded by the beauty of God with their family and friends in attendance. Simple yet elegant the chapel is nestled in town and was truly the perfect setting for this faith-filled ceremony. As the couple stood before the altar, the mass became the foundation of their wedding entirely centered around the sacrament of marriage and the commitment they were about to make before God.

One of the most touching moments during the mass was the couple’s dedication to Mary. This gesture isn’t just a tradition, but a way to invite Mary’s intercession in the couple’s life together. A beautiful way to include a dedication to Mary in your own wedding is through a prayer or by crowning her statue or image during the ceremony.
In this particular wedding, the couple dedicated their union to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Walking up to her beautiful statue, they prayed for her protection and guidance throughout their marriage. However, this dedication was more than just a prayer. It was a promise to uphold their faith and a reminder that their love, like Mary’s love for Jesus, is meant to be sacrificial and selfless.

Weaving Faith into Every Detail
After the ceremony, the celebration continued at The Barn at Aspen Acres. A modern venue, it provided the perfect contrast to the sacred nature of the ceremony. The reception was lively and full of joy, the couple made sure their faith remained at the center of the festivities.
During the celebartion, they shared a special moment of gratitude, offering a prayer of thanksgiving for their guests and their journey together. The prayer wasn’t just a formality; it was a moment to pause and acknowledge the role God has played. By including faith in this way, they invited their loved ones to be part of their spiritual journey.
And ALL of the decor was so intentional. For example, they had a saint-themed table placement setting. Personally, my favorite decor was the frame they highlighted at the entrance. It was a shadow box with all of their letters to one another during their courtship. Clearly, it was a testament to their faith and endurance and a beautiful setting to start their marriage celebration.
