As a mom, I know the importance of quality photos when it comes to our kids memories and milestones. That’s why I strongly believe any moment shared, even if it’s a first haircut, is one worth photographing. I’m probably the worst at editing my personal photos since I am always working on my clients and friends galleries, but all memories deserve to be captured. So tag along and check out one of my memories with our second son, Thomas!

Thomas’ hair is fine and very thin. He had a few curls, but nothing like James’ beautiful golden locks. We knew that when we chopped Thomas’ hair off, we may never see curls again. It’s a bittersweet moment. And yes, we are that emotional. Emotions are normal and totally okay. Even for dads, you can cry with me, (no judgement)!
After how well The Kidz Salon in Rapid City did with James, I knew I wanted the same salon experience, so I booked the appointment and counted down the days.

The salon was relocated between the time James had his first cut and now, so we walked around the mall for a few minutes to get out some extra kiddo wiggles. Having multiples made it a little difficult to really enjoy the experience as parents because our eyes were on all three of our kids.
–Isaac insisted that we wait until after Lily’s newborn photos were taken to have his hair cut so we could memorialize the curls in at least one last family session.–

Unlike James, Thomas picked the “Elsa” car! For some reason, our kids seem to really love Frozen. I won’t object, because the music in Frozen 2 is FIRE. You definitely might catch me singing it in the car or at home randomly… anyway…
Thomas was pretty skeptical, but he loved the chair and the little apron. When the stylist got started, he had a minor little freak out but then he handled it like a champ! Seriously, he was even smiling. No real tears from this trooper. Honestly, I can’t tell you how proud of him I was. It sounds stupid to say out loud, but these little moments make you realize how quick time passes and how fleeting the memories are. Especially since they last a total of 10 minutes. We were in and out of there so quickly.

After it was finished, Thomas shared a moment at the same little Lego table that his big brother played at when he had his first haircut, and they were each handed a balloon to go.
